OMA was founded in 1994 to provide consulting services around a (then) new FCC concept called “Video Dial tone.” VDT was a complicated business model under which large telecommunications companies could sell television services. Brian D. Rezach, formerly of Scientific-Atlanta (now Cisco) and Dr. Mauro DiDomenico, formerly of BellCore / Telecordia created OMA primarily to work with large telcos on Video Dial tone.
As the video distribution and Internet landscapes changed through the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, OMA worked with several RBOC’s, but also many of the smaller I-LECs – as well as municipalities and utilities. We created video and Internet businesses for these clients. In most cases, after the planning and research was completed, we’d become a “contracted VP Marketing” through the service roll-out and beyond. Many clients achieved terrific success versus large cable operators and DBS. In addition to the “on-ground” consulting engagements, we wrote two syndicated research reports back then – “Digital Set Top Boxes” and “Data-over-Cable” – which helped provide the format (in several companies) for the high definition TV and cable modems that are prevalent today. Our clients included large enterprises like IBM, Samsung, Sony, Verizon, PSE&G and others, but also a host of smaller firms and government agencies.
In addition to the Video/Television and Internet applications, we have provided IT consulting for a Transportation company, ongoing marketing management for a Legal Services company as well as project management in marketing / IT functions for a leading B2C Web company.
In 2007, OMA expanded into the pharmaceutical business through an engagement around ePedigree / serialization. Almost 75% of the states governments as well as the FDA are advocating sweeping changes to the Pharmaceutical supply chain – primarily asking companies to serialize each container of prescription drugs, and then to track the container through the supply chain in an effort to curtail counterfeiting activities. OMA is working with a large generic pharma company to formulate and implement a long-term compliance strategy.
